About ThatStartEndContain

ThatStartEndContain began as a simple word-finder — list nouns that start with, end with, or contain a particular letter. Useful for crosswords, classrooms, and curious minds.

The new ThatStartEndContain is narrower and deeper. We dropped the dozens of generic categories and kept the ones worth going deep on, split across two domains:

Why a schema for every entry

Listing names is easy. Knowing what they actually are is harder. Every entry on this site has a real schema:

  • Foods — origin, cuisine, meal type, ingredients, nutrition, dietary flags.
  • Vegetables, fruits, trees, flowers, mushrooms, spices — scientific name, family, native range, season, plant part / leaf type, and uses.
  • Animals, birds, insects, fish — taxonomy, habitat, diet, range, conservation status, behavior.
  • Cities, countries, regions — country, region, population, currency, cost-of-living, and member counts.
  • Languages — family, writing scripts, native range, speaker counts, and status.
  • Cuisines — region, signature dishes, staple ingredients, flavor profile, and techniques.
  • Nationalities — country, region, and language linkage.

The point isn't to win at trivia. It's to read about something — really learn it — instead of skimming a list of names.

How the alphabet tools work

Every category has three classic views: start with, end with, and contain. Pick a category, pick a letter, and you'll get a list — with each item linked to its full detailed page. You can also filter by letter count or syllable count.

You can combine filters via the search box — for example, "Fruits that start with A and contain Pe", "Animals that end with X", or "Cities that contain San".
