Geography
Baffin Island lies between Greenland and the Canadian mainland. The Baffin Mountains form a glaciated alpine spine along its eastern coast, with Mount Odin at 2147 m the highest peak.

Auyuittuq National Park on the Cumberland Peninsula features the Penny Ice Cap and dramatic granite peaks including Mount Thor, whose 1,250 m granite wall is the world’s tallest vertical drop.
Inuit Communities
Iqaluit, the capital of Nunavut, sits at the head of Frobisher Bay and is the only city on Baffin Island. About 80 percent of residents are Inuit, and Inuktitut is widely spoken.
