Geography
The Isle of Man lies almost equidistant from England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Snaefell at 621 m is the only mountain on the island; from its summit one can reportedly see all six neighboring kingdoms.
Government
The Manx parliament Tynwald, founded by Norse settlers around 979 CE, is the world’s oldest continuously sitting legislative body. It meets each July at Tynwald Hill for the annual ceremonial promulgation of laws.
TT Races
The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy motorcycle races, held since 1907, run on a 60.7 km closed-road Mountain Course. The event remains among the most dangerous and storied motorsport competitions in the world.
