Geography
Qeshm lies just south of the port city of Bandar Abbas, separated from the Iranian mainland by the narrow Khuran Strait. The island is shaped by salt domes, sandstone cliffs, and an extensive mangrove ecosystem.
Hara Forests
The Hara Mangrove Forest on Qeshm’s northern coast covers about 200 square kilometers and is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The mangroves shelter herons, flamingos, and migratory waterbirds.
Geology
The Qeshm Geopark, the first UNESCO Global Geopark in the Middle East, protects features including the Salt Cave at Namakdan, the longest known salt cave in the world at over 6 km.
